This effort centered around providing early-stage project development services for a brownfield wood pellet plant rated at 150,000 metric tons per year. Residuals from nearby sawmills made up all of the feedstock used for this project. In addition to a full wood pellet production line, the project included feedstock unloading and storage systems designed to receive multiple trucks simultaneously. To provide sufficient detail in support of an estimated capital cost for the project, the project team completed an FEL-2 exercise. Engineering deliverables produced as part of the FEL-2 included process flow diagrams, an overall plant layout, a major equipment list, a constructability review, and a utility usage summary. Project development deliverables included a project development schedule and implementation plan, a project risk register, and commercial contracts evaluation from fiber supply agreements through to offtake contracts.
