This project included front-end engineering and project development support for the greenfield wood pellet facility. The facility was designed to provide a finished product capacity of 450,000 metric tons per year of I2 grade wood pellets for the biomass power industry. The fiber source is virgin southern yellow pine roundwood and residuals. The scope included a full roundwood handling system and truck delivered residual handling system. Also included were green and dry hammermilling systems, screening, wood chip storage and reclaim system, a biomass-fueled drying system, and a wood pelletizing system. Finished product transportation by rail to local Georgia port for overseas shipment completes the scope of the project. The front-end engineering produced in support of EPC pricing used to solicit project funding included an extensive equipment supplier inquiry process, heat and material balance, development of site layout, 50 general arrangements, 50 P&IDs, single-line, control systems architecture, and preliminary structural design. A project execution plan, including a level 2 schedule and a complete risk analysis, were developed and reviewed collaboratively with all stakeholders. Finally, the project team reviewed and validated the financial model following full FEED development. These deliverables were packaged and delivered in support of project funding.
