This scope consisted of full-cycle project support from front-end engineering through startup for the conversion of an existing power boiler from coal firing to natural gas at an existing paper mill. The project installed six new low NOx natural gas burners, a new flue gas recirculation fan, and a new flame safety system. To prevent stress-related issues with existing piping, superheater tubes were removed across all pendants as part of the conversion. The front-end engineering services included developing a full project execution plan, including a class 3 estimate for client funding appropriation. After funding, the team provided detailed engineering and procurement support and on-site construction management support and was an integral part of the startup team that delivered an issue free project.
