This effort included the detailed design and engineering field support for a $150 million chemical process plant upgrade and addition at an existing facility to create omega-3 fatty acids for animal nutrition from microalgae. This technology set the new standard for sustainable animal nutrition by offering a solution to feeding a growing population without exhausting natural resources. The design included all engineering disciplines, the integration of several supplier technology packages, and the implementation of a “best of breeds” approach to engineering project tools and systems. The project included a new downstream process building, finished product tank farm, existing process area modifications and additions, upgraded utilities and support infrastructure, truck and rail loading, and several utility bridges.
