This effort included the detailed design and onsite construction support for a paper machine winder rebuild, including safety and capacity improvement modifications. The existing paper machine winder was rebuilt with a new slitter section, cut-off knife, core feeding, automatic gluing capabilities, and associated safety upgrades, including safety gating, light curtains, a new hydraulic power unit (and supply tubing), and drive upgrades. Additional modifications to the winder deck included a new set of sorting stops. The upgraded air supply to the winder included new piping and a new dedicated air receiver. The rebuild was completed during a paper machine annual outage with onsite construction support during the installation phase. The project scope included planning scope packages for both pre-outage and outage installation activities.
